SLM Bodywork
Steve Lockhart’s Myotherapy (SLM) specialises in the fast and effective treatment of pain and injury.
It incorporates Deep Tissue Work and Acupressure in a unique style that gets positive results.

Injuries and poor posture affect our muscles leaving behind problems which spread to other muscles as they try to compensate. These compensations set up patterns of imbalance which affects our overall symmetry, causing areas of isolated pressure to
accumulate and restrict the proper movement of a joint. Once this pressure builds up to a certain level it can cause irritation, inflammation and pain.

Using this unique corrective form of muscle therapy you can remove the compensations and patterns of imbalance to release the pressure so the pain disappears and returns the problem muscles back to good health thus preventing injury.
To balance the body means straightening the spine and levelling the pelvis to give an even leg length.
When the body is balanced with SLM, a person's physical stress from their lifestyle is significantly reduced and they feel light, loose and pain free.
SLM Bodywork may be of assistance if you suffer from sciatica, any acute or chronic pain, tingling or numbness in the following areas:
> Back
> Neck
> Shoulder
> Hip and pelvis
> Legs and feet
> Arms or hands
> Headaches
What To Expect
Unlike other forms of massage, you'll notice I work continuously around the body, from one area to the next.
This is important for 2 reasons:
1. After having worked in one area, it needs to be left alone to allow changes to take place in the tissues.
2. For every tension point in the body there will be another balancing tension point somewhere else. One tension area cannot be released properly without the other also being released. So it's important to work on the WHOLE body in each session.

Typically, people notice significant change within their first couple of sessions and report changes occurring for several days after treatment.

*Please be aware that full body draping is not always used while working on the back due to constant movement around the body. A towel is used to protect the underwear while facing down and full draping is use when lying on the back.
If you feel uncomfortable at any time during your appointment please don't hesitate to let me know.
Testimonials
After being told by 3 doctors that I will live the rest of my life in pain & not be able to walk, I decided to investigate this a little more. I discovered Tina on a SLM website & started receiving treatment approximately 4-5 months ago. To my delight I am pain free, drug free & I have Tina & SLM to thank for my renewed life.

I had injured my knee and even after surgery I had pain. After a few SLM sessions with Tina I was able to walk pain free. Tina also showed me some self treatment techniques to manage my pain if it came back.

*For your health and comfort it is vitally important to hydrate the body pre & post treatment to assist with elimination of soft tissue wastes, toxins and acids. An average of at least 1.5 litres of water a day is recommended. Herbal teas count toward water consumption.
Neuro-Skeletal Therapy (NST)
Align your spine without manipulation.
Neuro-Skeletal Therapy is a gentle technique used to treat pain & limited movement associated with injury or poor posture. Gentle finger pressure is applied to neuro-transmission points to stimulate the body’s own alignment process and healing.
Neuro-Skeletal Therapy may be of assistance if you
experience any of the following symptoms or
conditions: Neck Pain, Back Pain, Whiplash,
Headaches, Numbness in Limbs, Scoliosis, Arthritis, TMJ Disorders, Sciatica, Disc Herniation or Prolapse,
Golfer’s or Tennis Elbow or Minor Misalignments of Vertebrae.
What To Expect
For this treatment you remain fully clothed.
Gentle finger pressure is applied to points around the pelvis and sacral areas, then the spine, shoulder girdle, and neck.
Other areas can also be added, like elbows, knees and ankle joints, jaw and even fingers and toes.
The skull is a full session in itself.
This treatment requires muscles to be fairly relaxed.
Depending on your muscle condition, a massage may be recommended first.
Some light-headedness upon sitting up may be
experienced due to activation of cerebrospinal fluid flow and will subside within minutes.
